Knowledge Asset
It is not enough simply to capture information in order to create a knowledge database. A context of the information is also necessary. However, how specific the context should be is debatable. Therefore, a set of conditions needs to be created to guide the decisions on what knowledge to store and why. In this Discussion, you will create 10 such guidelines.

- Chapter 12, “Leveraging What We’ve Learned—Capturing Knowledge”
Any information when presented without a context loses its meaning for the audience. This chapter explains the benefits of and the various guidelines on capturing knowledge with a context.
Focus on the guidelines on capturing knowledge necessary in an organization.
- Chapter 13, “Embedding It in the Organization—Preparing to Let Go”
Chapter 13 focuses on the application of KM. The chapter also emphasizes various methods that organizations use to enable their employees to apply KM methods without excessive support from senior managers.
Focus on the section that deals with KM and health, safety, and environmental performance. In addition, note the capital value process (CVP), which provides a framework for the successful execution of a project by a team.
- Chapter 14, “Review of the Book—W hat Did We Set Out to Do?”
Chapter 14 reviews the entire book. The chapter discusses the why, what, and how of actual performance versus planned performance.
Focus on the section that provides the gist of what was learned from this book.
