Scenario

Every year, GCU has new and returning Residence Assistants (RA) and Resident Directors (RD). These individuals are responsible for monitoring and ensuring safety for students while they are in the dorms. You work for Lopes Training and Development a department at GCU that is responsible to train new and returning RAs and RDs. You have been asked to conduct a training seminar for 20 new RAs and RDS. The purpose of the training is to introduce them to GCU’s culture, specifically how the Christian worldview is integrated.

Your manager also suggested that you learn about GCU’s Doctrinal Statement and how GCU uses the Christian worldview in its mission so that you can effectively incorporate these into your training plan. You can find some information on these topics here:

In a paper of 500-750 words, analyze the audience and prepare for how you might address a training topic with them by doing the following:

Part I: Analyze the Audience
Summarize the following traits of the audience you will be training, specifically new RAs and RDs:
* Demographic traits (gender, education, etc.)
* Psychographic traits (personality)
* Required work skills
* Required academic background
* Setting in which they work
Briefly explain how the above traits might influence how you approach this audience.

Part II: Integrate Communication and the Christian Worldview

Use the traits of the audience from your analysis in Part I of this assignment as well as your understanding of communication principles and the Christian worldview to do the following:

  • Explain how the Christian worldview and communication intersect.
  • Connect the Christian worldview with possible topics, skills, or theories directly related to communication.
  • Suggest how the RA/RD can integrate a Christian worldview into their communication with others.
  • Use a minimum of three to five sources to support your suggestions. The Bible can be used as source.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
