Justice can be seen in many different perspectives and according to different individuals the definition of justice can vary. My definition of justice is after an individual or entity has legally been wronged the correct actions are taken for the situation to be made as fair as legally possible. Having a justice system not only allows justice to be a value and feeling that justice has been served but it is also a principle and a promise and a principle that is instilled by the justice system. Theorists have argued both sides as whether justice is a personal goal or a societal goal, according to the fact that institutions build up based off just or unjust policies (Darr, 2020). Being that institutions are primarily just and fair and when wronged a person looks to the justice system and the community to receive justice it is societal more than a personal goal. My idea of justice does impact my personal political perspective of crime control. Different politicians focus on crime control based on their values and some focus on crime in inner cities others are focused city or state-wide. If a politician doesn’t feel like the crime is affecting the cost of the city or affecting the city as a whole then it often is not a priority or their main focus.
